  Description : I. RATIONALE
  
  
  The coconut industry plays a crucial role in the Philippine economy, as the country is one of the largest producers and exporters of coconuts and coconut-based products. However, despite the significant contribution, many coconut farmers continue to face numerous challenges, including limited access to markets and difficulties in connecting with buyers.
  
  
  Through Republic Act No. 11524, or the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund Act (CFITF), the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) has been created and is currently being implemented to address the challenges and modernize the industry. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), as the government agency responsible for coordinating, promoting, and supporting trade, industry, and investments, consistently carries out programs to support the private sector to accelerate and sustain economic growth. In line with its role and functions, it is responsible for the Research, Marketing, and Market Promotion sub-program of CFIDP.
