I. BACKGROUND

Established by Presidential Proclamation No. 923 dated November 19, 1996, Taal Volcano Protected Landscape (TVPL) was also recognized as an initial component of the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) pursuant to the NIPAS Act (RA 7586) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (DAO 2008-06). It became one of the legislated Protected Areas with the enactment of R.A. 11038 or Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (ENIPAS). It is managed by the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) with a Chief Operating Officer, the Park Operations Superintendent V.
