Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), especially the major conditions - cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory conditions remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the Philippines, accounting for approximately 70% of all deaths annually. The growing burden of NCDsposes a serious threat not only to the health of the population but also to the sustainability of the country's health system and overall socio-economic development.In 2024, the Department of Health developed the Medium-Term Agenda and Integrated Strategic Plan for Adult and Elderly Health 2024 2030.This plan serves as a national framework for addressing the health needs of adults and the elderly, with particular focus on the prevention and control of NCDs. It reflects a strong commitment to improving the well-being of vulnerable populations and advancing the country's public health priorities.However, the successful implementation of this strategic plan requires the translation of its goals into specific, actionable, and coordinated interventions. Given the multifactorial nature of NCDs, influenced by social, environmental, economic, and behavioral determinants, a health-sector responsealone is insufficient.To achieve sustained impact, it is imperative to develop a comprehensive, multi-sectoral action plan that aligns with the strategic framework.
