TERMS OF REFERENCE
Laboratory Information Management System for use of Newborn Screening Centers (NSCs) and Newborn Screening Reference Center (NSRC)
A. Overview
A Newborn Screening Center (NSC) is a facility equipped with a newborn screening laboratory that complies with the standards established by the National Institutes of Health (thru the Newborn Screening Reference Center or NSRC) and provides all required laboratory tests and recall/follow up programs for newborns with heritable conditions as defined by the Republic Act of 9288 otherwise known as the Newborn Screening Act of 2004. One of the standards set was the use of the same Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with a case management system. There are seven (7) NSCs in operation as of 2024, and one to two centers will open in 2025. The use of one particular LIMS is in aid of standardized operation and for easier consolidation of data for use of the newborn screening program.
