Description : I. BRIEF BACKGROUND :
In the beginning of 2023, the Updated Health and Safety Guidelines
Governing the Operations of Shore Excursion Programs was issued by the
Bureau of Quarantine to give a go signal for Cruise Calls to make its return to
the Philippines. The DOT-NCR consistently provided welcome reception to all
the arrivals of Cruise ships in Metro Manila last 2023. Since the restart of Cruise
Calls to the Philippines last February 2023, the DOT-NCR with the support of
Office of Product and Market Development (OPMD) successfully welcomed a
total of 36,172 Cruise arrival passengers with 24 Cruise Vessels docked in
Manila Port Harbor for FY 2023. This year DOT-NCR is expecting 42 Cruise Calls
with 21 maiden calls.
In October 16, 2023, the Philippines has been chosen as the “Best Cruise
Destination in Asia” at the World Cruise Awards in Dubai, United Arab
Emirates, beating other countries in Asia. This is considered the most
