III. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
In preparation for the Philippines- hosting of the 2026 ASEAN Chairship, the Pasig River Esplanade is being developed as a flagship public tourism space highlighting cleanliness, sustainability, food tourism, and cultural pride. The Esplanade accommodates an estimated daily foot traffic of more than 10,000 visitors, comprising local residents, domestic tourists, and foreign visitors.
