To accommodate these changes the 1990 editions of the Fiji National Building Code (FNBC) and Fiji Home Builders Manual (FHBM) need to be reviewed, updated, and revised to incorporate new considerations such as: • improved knowledge in how to better build disaster resistant infrastructure; • recent developments in wind and seismic engineering design; • climate change risks; • updates to referenced standards and guidelines; • energy efficiency guidelines and water quality management, and • gender awareness and accessibility.
