1 Description of Function
Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) is a safe and accurate diagnostic procedure for the investigation of mediastinal pathologies, staging of lung cancer, assessment of airway wall infiltrates and peripheral nodules, with future applications for pulmonary vascular disease and airway remodeling. It is an advanced bronchoscopic technique that combines bronchoscopy with ultrasound to obtain real-time imaging of the airway walls and the surrounding structures. This technology facilitates improved diagnosis and staging of pulmonary conditions especially if coupled with transbronchial needle aspiration.
