Description of Function
Portable Indirect Calorimeter measures respiratory gas exchange from which energy expenditure can be calculated. This device will help us understand the energy demand of our critically ill patients.

1.1.1 Measures Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) in patients who are:

a. Mechanically ventilated (FIO2 up to 75%)

b. Can measure REE through Canopy hood in spontaneously breathing individuals

c. Can measure REE using Oronasal face mask in spontaneously breathing individuals whenever Canopy
Hood cannot be used (Special individuals, Claustrophobic, etc.)

d. Healthy individuals

1.1.2 a. System does not require warm-up time
