Pro 2023
I. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE
In relation to the continuous effort of the Department of Tourism to promote local
tourism destinations in the domestic and international market, as well as to provide
economic opportunity for local communities through tourism, the Department of
Tourism Region 1 has committed its support to the World Surf League (WSL),
through the United Philippines Surfing Association (UPSA) as they bring to Region 1
the WSL La Union International Pro 2023.
WSL, a global organization establishing surfing events worldwide and developed the
international ranking system for surfing, through UPSA, the National Governing body
of Surfing in the country as recognized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)
and a regular member of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), will run their
regional Qualifying Series for surfing competitors to earn points and qualify for the
WSL Challenger Serie...
