Description : I.Background and Rationale

Under President Rodrigo Duterte, the Philippines is experiencing an infrastructure boom set to transform the country-s economy. The Philippine government is looking at flagship projects, which include airports, roads and bridges, and seaports that will help bring inclusive growth. Tourism stands to gain from this Build Build Build effort and our industry vows to contribute a major program in creating a culture of sustainable tourism.

Section 100 of the Republic Act 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009 states that to ensure the safety and security of tourists in the country, the Tourism Act of 2009 stipulated that “the Philippine National Police (PNP) shall establish a Tourism Security Force to assist in maintaining peace and order within areas of high tourism traffic.”
