I. BACKGROUND, PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND LEGAL BASIS:
The Tourism Act (RA 9593) designates the Department of Tourism (DOT) to be the primary planning, programming, coordinating, implementing, and regulatory government agency in the development and promotion of tourism industry, both domestic and international market. RA 9593 further vests in the DOT to promote a tourism industry that is ecologically sustainable, responsible, participative, culturally sensitive, economically viable, and ethically and socially equitable for local communities. Furthermore, it aims to encourage activities and programs that promote tourism awareness, preserve the country-s diverse cultures and heritage, and instill a sense of history and a culture of tourism among the people.
